Viacom Inc and Joost™ (www.joost.com), the world’s first broadcast-quality Internet television service, announced today that Viacom will be a key content partner and will offer a full range of brands and programming for free to consumers on the innovative Joost distribution platform. Under the agreement, Viacom’s divisions – MTV Networks, BET Networks and Paramount Pictures – will provide television and theatrical programming on the Joost platform.

So, now i’m cruising the Internet on 100mbit, on my home-connection … do i really need this big pipe? Oh well, at least those linux distros will take about 5 minutes to download now … 🙂

My current speed-record is 83.58 Mbit/s, which i’m pretty sure i could beat if i just got some better network-gear and a proper router.

Not a big shocker here, rather a question of time. Google has announced Google Talk, their instant messenger application which features voip functionality. Google Talk is said to be based on the free Im-protocol called Jabber, which makes it really interesting since its a open protocol and should be rather easy to interface from other applications. The VOIP functions are custom though.

Justin Nolan of 360hacker.net, has found a way to natively install osx tiger onto a regular PC. This is something i definitely will try when i get to work on Monday, got some computers standing in a corner, might as well use them as tigers … 😉

Sadly there seems to be quite a critical bug in the current version of Firefox which allow hackers/scammers to spoof the URL displayed in the address bar and the SSL certificate.

The vulnerability impacts every browser that uses the open-source Gecko browser kernel, almost all except IE, because of a flaw in handling International Domain Names (IDN).

This is very unfortunate for the Mozilla Foundation which recently released Firefox 1.0 alongside with all the browser which uses the Gecko kernel.

The bug was reported Monday 10th of February 2005 and currently none of the vendors have provided fixes for the flaw.

The phone cost about 140 Euro at the moment, but will probably drop some in a recent feature. This is absolutely a reason to reconsider a Skype-account.
